Work on a new piece—an artistic exploration of a gospel theme—will be featured in the upcoming exhibition. This large-scale canvas is dedicated to the “Sermon on the Mount” from the Gospel of Matthew. It was begun in 2026, following the latest series, "The Traveler of the Peaks." A completely new approach to color and form is used here, which was not characteristic of the works from the previous period.

"Traveler of the Peaks" series
The "Traveler of the Peaks" series focuses primarily on mountains, along with lakes and seas nestled directly against them. Through strong, colorful accents within semi-abstract landscapes flattened into two dimensions, these works reveal a new endeavor in which the artist attempts to explore the realm of the "moral sensation of color." The experiments of Jarji Balanchivadze (the artist's father) in this field served as an impetus for Anton to shift the focus of his works from linear perspective to color perspective.
Meanwhile, the mountains acquire a translucent quality—reflecting the artist's desire "to see the spirit beyond matter." This leads back to the gospel verse: "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move" (Matthew 17:20).
"A human gaze should not linger solely on objects, but rather strive to see the eternal behind them," says the artist.

Amidst the abundance of objects, books, paints, and brushes in Anton Balanchivadze’s studio stands a table where friends and guests naturally gather.
It is a spot where fresh watercolors and pastels constantly appear, framed and ready, yet rarely stay in one place for long. Only a fortunate few visitors ever catch them between the easel and private collections, so fleeting is their time here.
These diverse, mixed-media pieces on paper remain on display for the briefest of moments.
Photographs from the artist’s former studio, dating approximately from 2012–2017, preserved as visual traces of work and time.
Paintings, unfinished pieces, and everyday objects coexist without order, reflecting the atmosphere in which the work emerged.
